This was somewhat of a ugly game tonight for both teams, but especially for the Royals who lost on a walk-off home run. Even with the game going into extra innings in a 1-0 win for the Diamondbacks the pitching wasn’t as good as you would think. Both teams left a lot of men on base and also a lot of men in scoring popsition. Zack Grienke got out of a bases loaded jam in the second and third inning where he threw over 30 pitches but did not let a run in. Doug Davis was the pitcher for the Diamondbacks and pitched well but like Greinke allowed too many runners on base and was lucky to keep the Royals scoreless.

Yasukio Yabuta gave up the game winning home run in the 10th inning to Chad Tracy. The Royals pitching gave up way too many walks. There were 8 in total, 7 from Greinke and 1 from Yabuta. Included in the 8 walks were 3 to Diamondbacks young outfielder Justin Upton. Also for the Diamondbacks Chris Young went for the golden sombraro with 4 strikeouts.

Tommorow is the second game of the series in Arizona. Luke Hochevar will be pitching for the Royals against Randy Johnson for the D-Backs.

The Kansas City Royals lost to the Minnesota Twins on Thursday night by the score of 5-0. I think the Royals were still thinking about last nights game when they blew the lead and ended up losing in ten innings. The Royals really need to move on and hopefully win some games this weekend.

Luke Hochevar threw 5 1/3 innings while giving up nine hits and all five runs to take the loss. Hochevar did not have his best stuff and it really showed against the Twins who roughed him up.

Ron Mahay, Yasuhiko Yabuta, and Neal Musser all pitched out of the bullpen and all did a pretty good job even though they gave up hits. The key for a relief pitcher is to not let runs score, and they did not allow a run to score so good job.

Alex Gordon had a rbi double in the ninth inning. That was about the highlight of the game for Royals.

The Kansas City Royals lost to the Boston Red Sox by the score of 11-8 Thursday afternoon as they dropped all three games of their three game series. The Royals have now lost four games in a row as they head into a weekend series with the Toronto Blue Jays.

The Royals pitching staff gave up two grand slams in the game as they were rocked for eleven runs. Starting pitcher Brian Bannister pitched 5 1/3 innings and gave up 12 hits and seven runs including a grand slam to J.D. Drew. Jimmy Gobble was called into relieve Bannister and quickly gave up two hits including a grand slam to Mike Lowell. Yasuhiko Yabuta and Leo Nunez were finally able to slow the Red Sox down as they pitched the seventh and eighth innings without allowing a run.

The Royals did pretty good at the plate a they scored eight runs. Miguel Olivo hit a three run home run in the eighth inning and Jose Guillen also added a solo home run in the seventh inning. Olivo finished the game with five rbi while Guillen had three rbi.

The Kansas City Royals were never really in the game against the Cleveland Indians on Tuesday night as they were hammered 15-1. The Royals were only able to get six hits in the game, so there was no way they could keep up with the hot hitting Indians who put 15 runs up on the scoreboard.

Starting pitcher Gil Meche dropped his third game of the season as he only lasted 3.1 innings. Meche gave up nine hits and eight earned runs. Terrible outing for Meche who was hoping for a lot better preformance.

Joel Peralta, Yasuhiko Yabuta, Jimmy Gobble, and Ramon Ramirez all seen action out of the bullpen and all except for Ramirez gave up atleast two earned runs. Gobble gave up three while only recording two outs.

Mark Teahen had the lone RBI for the Royals. Teahen singled in the eigth inning to score Tony Pena Jr.

The Kansas City Royals fell to the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday night by the score of 11-6. Usually when your pitching staff gives up eleven runs, you are going to lose the game just like the Royals did.

John Bale took the loss the for Royals and is now 0-3 on the season. Bale only lasted three inning as he gave up seven hits and three earned runs. The Royals relievers really weren’t much better as Hideo Nomo gave up four earned runs, Ron Mahay and Yasuhiko Yabuta both gave up one earned run. Terrible job by the pitching staff against the Mariners…

At the plate for the Royals, Tony Pena led the team with two RBI’s. David DeJesus, Billy Butler, Alex Gordon, and Ross Gload all had one RBI each.

The Royals record is now 8-6. Lets see how long they stay above the .500 mark. Any guesses?
