First off I would like to apologize for my absense from the blog, I was having some login trouble and was not able to post.

Moving on there are a few things that have happened since the last time that I posted. But let’s begin with some very exciting news! Ross Gload has been traded to the Florida Marlins for a player to be named later. To be honest that player could be named half a box of cracker jacks and I would be thrilled with the deal. Even though the Royals are believed to be paying a reported 1.5 million of Gload’s 2009 salary of 1.9 million I think this is a good deal for the Royals, whom are now able to give a roster spot to a more deserving player (Ryan Shealy, Brayan Pena, or Mitch Maier)

Also, Luke Hudson has announced his retirement from the game. Luke was a great find by Dayton Moore for part of the 2007 season, but due to shoulder issues he has been unable to return to form. Hudson is best remembered for his less than stellar performance against the Cleveland Indians, when he gave up 11 runs in the first inning.

Peralta has been released. Bale been placed on the DL. The bullpen is starting to take shape with Soria, Farnsworth, Cruz, and Mahay at the back end. Plus Tejeda and Jamey Wright who have appeared to have locked up spots. This leaves one other spot which I believe will go to Doug Waechter.

Opening Day is less than 72 hours away. More posts to come!

However they were unable to come to terms with Brian Bannister, Zack Greinke, Mike Jacobs, and Mark Teahen. The four players and the Royals will now head to a salary arbitration court next month and work out a contract in front of a judge.

It was a great series for the Kansas City Royals as they swept the Seattle Mariners in a four game series. They finished up the sweep with a 12-0 victory on Thursday afternoon. It was a dominating performance out of the pitching staff as well as the offense.

Left-hander Zack Greinke tossed the first seven innings of the game and only allowed two hits while improving his record to 12-10. Greinke now has a 3.59 ERA for the season. Jimmy Gobble and Joel Peralta each pitched an inning of relief after Greinke was taken out of the game.

Mike Aviles led the team at the plate with a three-run home run and three rbi’s. He was then followed by Alex Gordon and Mitch Maier with two rbi each. Up next was David DeJesus, Joey Gathright, Ryan Shealy, and Mark Teahen with one rbi each.

Great series for the Royals who will now play the Chicago White Sox in a weekend series. The Royals can spoiler as the White Sox are in a battle with the Twins for the division.

Kansas City Royals starting pitcher Gil Meche had a night that does not want to remember. Meche pitched into the seventh inning but was charged with 14 hits and five runs including one home run. The Royals went on to lose to the Texas Rangers 9-4 in the game.

Meche of course took the loss and is now 10-10 on the season. One Meche left the game, Joel Peralta gave up two hits and three runs while Robinson Tejeda also gave up a run out of the bullpen. Those three pitchers simply did not get the job done on Monday night.

The four Royals runs were scored on three singles and a groundout fielders choice as the Royals played small ball and never really had a huge inning. Alberto Callaspo, David DeJesus, and Ross Gload had the rbi singles while John Buck had the rbi on the groundout.

The Kansas City Royals were blasted out of Cleveland as the Indians beat the visiting Royals by the score of 10-3. The Royals were swept in the three game series against the Indians and well they are probably glad to get out of Cleveland!

Zack Greinke got the start for the Royals on the mound and gave up six hits and five runs (only one was earned) in five innings of action. Greinke did give up one home run in the game while walking one and striking out four. Errors really hurt Greinke and the Royals as you can tell with only one of the five runs being earned.

Robinson Tejeda and Joel Peralta were both tagged for one run in relief while Josh Newman was charged with three runs in the eighth inning. Every Royals pitcher that stepped on the mound Thursday pitched terribly!

Mark Teahen led the team at the plate with two rbi as he had a two run double in the fifth inning. Teahen then scored on a rbi single by Tony Pena Jr.

The Kansas City Royals were blown out by the Chicago White Sox on Thursday afternoon as they served up four home runs in a row and lost the game 9-2. The score was 3-2 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning, but then the White Sox unleashed the big bats and went back-to-back-to-back-to-back and blew the game wide open.

Royals starting pitcher Kyle Davies was charged with the loss and is now 5-4 Davies didn’t throw that ball all that bad as he was charged with nine hits and three runs. Davies struckout seven white sox batters while walking two in his five innings of action. Joel Peralta was charged with three home runs and five runs while Robinson Tejeda was charged with one home run. I put the blame on Peralta and Tejada in this game because they put the team in a big hole after giving up those four home runs.

Once again it was only Jose Guillen who was knocking in any runs for the Royals at the plate. Guillen had a two run single in the first inning but after that the Royals were held scoreless. The bats for the Royals just can’t seem to get things going and it isn’t going to really make a difference if they do get going as the season is coming to an end in the next six weeks.

So how many Royals fans out there have pretty much stopped watching the games and paying any attention to the team? We will still be here blogging until the season is over so keep checking back!

The Kansas City Royals lost for the second straight night to the Detroit Tigers. On Tuesday evening after sitting through a 2.5 hour rain delay, the Royals lost to teh Tigers 7-1. The Royals will have to win on Wednesday afternoon or else they will be sweep at home by the Tigers.

Kyle Davies dropped to 3-2 on the season as he only lasted four innings on the mound. Davies gave up five hits and two runs including one home run. Joel Peralta tossed the next three innings of the game and he gave up four hits and three runs as well as walking two batters. Robinson Tejeda pitched the 8th and 9th innings after the rain delay and he was just as good as Davies and Peralta as he gave up three hits and two runs. The Royals pitchers just didn’t have it going on Tuesday night. Hell, we can just about say that for every night.

At the plate the Royals only had six hits and struckout nine times. Second basemen Mark Grudzielanek went 3-4 with the Royals lone rbi. Grudzielanek had a rbi single in the first inning and after that the Royals pretty much were silent at the plate. You have to swing the bats a lot better then that if you want to win. Especially when your pitchers give up seven runs.

So will the Royals come out on Wednesday and avoid the three game sweep? I really doubt it.

Kansas City is swept tonight after losing 6-2 to the Chicago White Sox. Gil Meche pitched tonight for the Royals and gave up 5 earned runs in 5 2/3 innings. Joel Peralta came in to pitch in relief as he was the only reliever not used in yesterday’s 15 inning game that the White Sox won with a walk-off home run.

This was a pretty bad series for the Royals, obviously any series that you are swept in has to be bad. The pitching for KC gave up a lot of home runs, which the Sox are known for hitting hom runs but the Royal still gave up to many. I believe it was 8 home runs that the White Sox hit in this series. Only one of these came in tonight’s game. Jim Thome hit his second of the series off of Peralta.

One very good thing about this series also had to do with home runs. Mark Teahen who broke out for 18 home runs in 2006 has been looking for his power stroke since then. Last year was Teahen’s first full year in the majors and dropped to only 7 home runs. Teahen had still been struggling to hit for power this season with only 2 homers coming into the White Sox series. In this series he really seemed to have have found this power stroke again, hitting a home run in each of the three games of the series. Now I don’t want to overreact about only three games, but I am really excited about Teahen hitting well. He had been a guy that had been somewhat of a dissapointment since 2006. David Dejesus is also hitting well with a 9 game hit streak after tonight.

The Royals now head to New York to face the Yankee’s.

What a disappoint way to lose a game as the Kansas City Royals blew a five run lead in the ninth inning and then gave up a run in the tenth inning as they lost to the Minnesota Twins 9-8 on Wednesday night.

Joel Peralta gave up the game tying home run in the ninth inning to Craig Monroe and then gave up the game winning home run to Justin Morneau in the tenth inning as he took the loss for the Royals.

I suppose we can put some of that blame on Ramon Ramirez as well as he was accounted for four runs in the ninth inning. He was the one that got the Royals in the jam to begin with. What a waste of a good start my Zack Greinke threw eight innings and only allowed five hits and three runs.

Miguel Olivo led the Royals with two rbi and then four other players had one rbi in the game. David DeJesus, Joey Gathright, Alex Gordon, and Jose Guillen all had one rbi in the game.

Pretty much it was a tough loss for the Royals who pretty much had the game wrapped up. Hopefully it doesn’t hurt them in the mental aspect of the game. Royals Blog

The Kansas City Royals won their fourth straight game as they beat the Detroit Tigers 8-4 and swept the Tigers in the three game series. It is great to watch the Royals play such great baseball as they have won the last four games.

Gil Meche improved to 3-5 on the season as he picked up the win. Meche pitched seven innings and have up six hits and three runs. Joel Peralta pitched one inning and gave up one run while Ramon Ramirez pitched one inning and did not allow a run.

Jose Guillen led the Royals at the plate as he went 3-5 with three rbi and a solo home run. Billy Butler wasn’t too far behind has he had two rbi. Joey Gathright, Miguel Olivo, and Mark Teahen all had one rbi in the game.

Let’s see if the Royals can keep things up as they begin a interleague series with the Florida Marlins on Friday.
