The Kansas City Royals placed right-hander Gil Meche on the 15-day disabled list and recalled right-hander Victor Marte from Triple-A Omaha before Saturday's game against the Boston Red Sox. Meche, 0-4 with a 6.66 ERA, was sidelined with shoulder bursitis. It's his second trip to the DL with the same injury.
