One day before he pitched into the seventh inning to earn his first win in five weeks as the Chicago White Sox beat the Royals 4-3 on Tuesday night, he and his wife Leanne found out they are going to be parents of a little boy.

Umpire Alfonso Marquez is expected back on the field Wednesday, two days after leaving a game with symptoms of heat distress. Marquez left Monday night's game in Kansas City between the White Sox and Royals in the bottom of the fifth inning with shortness of breath. He was taken to a hospital for evaluation and was not kept overnight.

An umpire who left a game between the Chicago White Sox and Kansas City Royals with symptoms of heat distress is out of the hospital. First base umpire Alfonso Marquez was taken to St. Luke's Hospital to be evaluated Monday night. He was experiencing shortness of breath when he left the game in the bottom of the fifth inning.

This win was a long time coming for Anthony Lerew. The Kansas City Royals' rookie right-hander earned his first major league victory Monday night, throwing six solid innings in a 3-1 win over the Chicago White Sox. Lerew has been pitching professionally 10 years and had to overcome Tommy John surgery in 2008.

Bruce Chen was laboring, Jaime Garcia was cruising. Then one swing by Kansas City's Wilson Betemit upended everything. Garcia came undone after Betemit's second-inning homer. Chen recovered from a shaky start, retiring Albert Pujols with two on and two out, helping the Royals go on to beat the Cardinals 10-3 Sunday.
